Newsletter Week 6, Term 4
Hakatere Festival: Congratulations to our Kapa Haka performing at the Hakatere Festival yesterday at the Events Centre. The did our kura proud. This was a big performance opportunity and they showed pride, passion and presence on stage. We really appreciate the hard work and commitment Koka Bernie puts in to supporting the team. We were all very proud!
Canterbury Zone Athletics: We wish Tahmal, Grace, Chini & Penina well competing at Nga Puna Wai in Christchurch on Thursday next week.
High Tea with Mrs C: As our Year 6's prepare to transition to Intermediate, I have enjoyed sharing a special morning tea with the students. This is a nice time to reflect on their time at Hampstead School. They have visited Intermediate this morning and this is always an exciting time for them. We receive the AIS newsletter and enjoy seeing our students grow and develop at Intermediate.
Safety of our Students: Students are welcome on our school grounds from 8:30am. We have noticed some children are arriving earlier and we have received some concerns about safety, especially for the younger ones around the road. Please be aware that our Wellington St crossing is supervised by a teacher from 8:30am. Before this time, students are unsupervised. If your child needs to be at school before this time, please contact Tish at Hit Play as they run a before school programme in our hall from 7:30am.
Classes for 2023: We are currently working on Class placements for next year. Stationery lists will come home with student reports on Friday 9 December. Students will meet their 2023 teacher and new class on this day also. Currently we have 17 classrooms open and we start the new year with 14 classrooms and will open start-up rooms as our New Entrant Class fills up. We farewell Miss Pedlow, Miss Bruerton, Miss Trotman, Miss Baker-Flynn and Mr Mackinnon at the end of this year. We thank them for all their hard work at Hampstead School and wish them all the best for their future adventures.
Final Assembly & Picnic: On Wednesday 14 December, we will hold our last assembly at 11am, followed by a picnic. We plan to have this outside. Kai for Kids are putting on a lovely lunch of ham, chicken, potato salad followed by Ambrosia and Talleys are kindly bringing ice-cream again. We will send out a note shortly so we can get an indication of how many people are attending so Kai for Kids can get an idea of quantities. Children are welcome to go home with their families after the picnic at 1:30.
Top Team: The weather was kind to us today and the Year 3-6 children had an absolute blast! Top Team is run by Sport Canterbury and we were very grateful to Dylan for bringing this out to our school. Top Team is a fun team building physical activity with lots of water action.
Student of the Week: Chloe (Rm 16) is a hardworking, kind and considerate room 16 student. She is always helpful in class and has lovely manners. She is a friend to all and takes pride in her work. She always says good morning with a smile! We are lucky to have Chloe in Room 16. Hellen-Rose (Rm 15) is a pleasure to have as a member of Room 15. She is kind and considerate and makes people feel welcome and safe in the classroom. She is very cheerful and she is always excited when it is learning time. Hellen-Rose consistently shows respect towards adults and other children.
