Newsletter Week 2, Term 4

Claudine Campbell —

Kia ora whanau. It was great to see so many supporters at our Athletics day! The children really gave everything their best effort and were excellent sports on the day. Please see the attached document with placings. Enjoy the long weekend this weekend. We look forward to seeing the children back on Tuesday.

Lost Property: We have a lot at the moment and we are very grateful that Mrs Karen Kilgour manages this for us, returning named items and washing and selling any unclaimed items. If you have lost anything that you can't find in the lost property stand (Rm 6/7 cloak bay), please let Karen or the office know.

Dogtober & Tahi: You will have seen our news that we are very excited that Hampstead School will have our very own Therapy Dog. Tahi is a two year old golden retriever that has trained with Mobility Dogs NZ and will arrive at school before the end of the term. He came out for a visit in August and is already well loved at school. He will live with Mrs Campbell and her family and dog Baxter and come to school each day. His jobs include (but not limited to) reading in classes and the library, providing emotional support to anyone who needs it, supporting new children settling in to school, supporting our students in Puawai. Mobility Dogs NZ is a charity and rely on donations and puppy sponsorship to train these amazing dogs. That is why we are supporting Dogtober and we've raised $910! Donations can be made on the website and will remain open for all of Dogtober (October):https://dogtober.co.nz/hampstead-school?utm_medium=email&utm_source=raisely&utm_content=Fundraiser%20Welcome&utm_term=fac8ec65-6b04-44c4-a2d8-dbba9fb188d2

Hampstead School Pool: You may have seen in local news and media that we are very fortunate to have Ashburton District Council open our pool for casual public use over January due to EA Networks pool having maintenance work completed. We are grateful for the upgrades that they are making to our pool system and we will then have school only access from the start of Term 1 for our usual class lessons. With pool operating costs increasing we are grateful to have these upgrades and ADC have given us grant donations in the past to help also.

Home Insulation: For homeowners in our local area, please see the attached photo regarding how you can access from home insulation upgrades.

Student of the Week: Millie of Rm 5 Millie is a kind, happy and valued member of Room 5. She is a good friend to all those around her. Millie works hard to achieve any goals set for her and takes pride in everything she does. She has a great sense of humour and loves to make us laugh. We are lucky to have Millie as part of our class. Millie you’re a superstar! Sione of Rm 8: Sione is a friendly, kind and caring member of Ruma Waru. He always completes his work to a high standard and likes to take care with the presentation of his work. Sione likes to help others and is always willing to help out with classroom jobs. Sione enjoys learning about the world around him and is always asking questions that really gets everyone thinking. Sione is a Ruma Waru superstar!
