Newsletter Week 8, Term 2

Claudine Campbell —

Kia ora whanau. Miss Martin flies to Scotland with fiancé Joseph to finally have her wedding. We wish them the very best for a wonderful day and many many happy years ahead. Miss Martin (or should I say Mrs Williams) will be back for the start of Term 3. We had a lovely assembly for her before she left with former student Harrison Doak piping her in with his bagpipes. Mrs Ali Hetherington (former Hampstead teacher and close friend of Jen's) came to be by her side as her Bridesmaid for the event. We send Arohanui to Jen and Joseph and look forward to hearing all about their adventures when they return.

Counties Cross Country:  We were super proud of our eight Year 5/6 boys (William N, Kaiden, Charlie J, Fletcher E, Jacob F, George N, Domingo & Ronaldo) who ran exceptionally well at the A&P Showgrounds on Wednesday 7 June.  Extra congratulations to William N who came 4th in his event and will now compete at the Zone Cross Country in Christchurch on 21 June.

Heartland Music Festival: Well done to our Year 5-6 choir who performed beautifully on Wednesday night at the Events Centre.  Miss Martin conducts our choir and they performed two items and joined in the massed items with other schools as well.  Miss Martin is very talented and is also one of the massed choir conductors.  It was an amazing night.

Sharing of Learning: All students will receive a report on 30 June. We will hold Learning Conferences on 18-19 July.  These can be booked through the following website or QR code below (Event Code: ttpvd).  https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code/ttpvd  We are happy to book on your behalf also, by either contacting your class teacher or ringing the office.  If these dates don't suit, we can arrange an alternative time.  It is parents choice whether they would like their child to be at the Learning Conference or if you would prefer a phone conversation.  We are also holding a Celebration of Learning evening on Wednesday 26 July 5-7:30pm (please note the change of date due to the College Open night being on 27th July).  More information to come home after the holidays.

Students of the Week: Last week we celebrated Kaylee of Rm 8. Kaylee is a conscientious, hard working student. She helps others once she is finished. She is helpful throughout the day and uses her initiative. She is a great buddy to her R16 buddy. She loves a challenge and was a great EPRo8 team member. Kaylee is an amazing Year 6 class member and role model. This week we acknowledged Lexi of Rm 13. Lexi is a kind and helpful member of Room 13. She always listens carefully, follows instructions and helps others to do the same. Lexi has a positive attitude towards school, doesn’t give up when a task is hard and always listens to feedback to ensure she has tried her very best. She is resilient, creative and caring and a delight to have in the classroom. Well done Lexi!

Lost Property: We are very lucky to have Karen Kilgour help with our lost property.  She was able to return a whole lot of items at our last whole school assembly.  If you are ever looking for a lost item, our lost property point is a blue trolley in the cloak bay between Rm 6 and 7.  You are always welcome to go and check.  Clearly named clothing helps enormously in getting items back to children.

PTA Non-Uniform Day and Disco: Friday 30 June.  The theme for both is shimmer and shine like stars (Matariki inspired).  We are collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the non-uniform day and the disco for Ronald McDonald House.  Juniors Yr 0-3 Disco is 5.30-615pm and Seniors Yr 4-6 is 6.30-7.30pm in the Hall.

Coming Up:

End of Term 2 (Reports go home): Friday 30 June
Start of Term 3: Monday 17 July
Learning Conferences: 18-19 July
Celebration of Learning Evening: Wednesday 26 July

Kind Regards,

Claudine Campbell (Principal)
