Newsletter Week 4, Term 1
Our thoughts are with the communities in the North Island recovering from Cyclone Gabrielle. Our school went out in support today to raise funds to support the recovery efforts. Thank you for donating generously to this cause. Money raised from our Pool Open Days has also gone towards this. We are proud to announce we have raised $718!
Year 6 Camp: Our Year 6's have spent the last three days away at Woodend Camp. They have had a fantastic time, even in the colder weather. The camp has so many fun, action packed activities to keep the children engaged including archery, go-karting, air rifles, zipline, climbing wall, aerojump, orienteering and team building. This is such a great opportunity and helps to build confidence and is a great team bonding experience for students in their final year at Hampstead School. We are very grateful to our adult helpers who give their time and energy to support our students.
Early Closure: On Wednesday 1 March school will finish at 12.30 and students will bring their Kai for Kids lunches home with them in a paper bag. This is because teachers have been called to a Union Meeting at the Events Centre. Please let your child's teacher know if your child is unable to go home at the earlier time.
Swimming: We have had a great season swimming in our pool. We hope the weather will improve next week to allow us to have our Fun Swim sessions on Thursday 2 March. Details of times for each class are on Class Dojo. Our senior competitive swimmers competed on Monday and we have Fletcher E heading off to the the County Swimming Sports at EA Networks pool on 7th March. Congratulations Fletcher!
Staff Update: At the end of this term we farewell Mrs Julie Crossen from Room 13. Mrs Crossen has been a teacher at Hampstead School for nine years and we wish her well for her future adventures with some exciting travel plans and more time with her family.
Keeping our Kids safe: This is a friendly reminder that our school site is open for students from 8.30am. Before this time, students are unsupervised unless they are signed in to the Before School programme. Hit Play use our hall and playground between 7.30-8.30am. If you require childcare before 8.30, please give Tish a call on 0212227770. We often receive complaints from neighbours concerned about unsupervised children acting in unsafe ways on the road and footpaths. Our staff are often in meetings or preparing for the day and we do not have eyes on the outside of the school. Please talk to your children if they are leaving early in the morning for school so that we can keep everyone safe. We appreciate your support with this.
Hampstead School PTA: Our PTA have their own Facebook Page. Please go and follow the page to find out about events and activities happening. https://www.facebook.com/HampsteadSchoolPTA We are always looking for new members, so feel free to attend the AGM on 28 March at 6.30pm in the Staffroom.
