Newsletter Week 4, Term 1, 2025

Claudine Campbell —

It is hard to believe we are already at the end of Week 4 already! The start of the year is always a busy and fun time. We are delighted with the high levels of attendance we have seen over the first four weeks. This really does help the children to do well in their learning and maintain good relationships.

Teacher Only Day: On Friday 28 February, we are joining other schools in the Kahui Ako for some Professional Development on the new Maths curriculum and a programme we are a part of called "Relationships First". Our school will be closed for the day. Our next Teacher Only Day is Tuesday 3 June.

Camp: Our Year 6s have had an absolutely fantastic time away at Woodend Camp. There are so many fun and challenging activities including a climbing wall, flying fox, archery, air rifles, disc golf, go karts, aero jumping, water slides to mention only a few. It is always such a good opportunity for the Year 6's to bond as a team and develop new leaderships skills. We are very grateful to have our adult helpers that give their time and energy to support the students.

New Whanau Welcome: We warmly invite all our new whanau to a Welcome afternoon tea in Rm 1 on Wednesday 12 March from 3pm. This is a great way to meet some other families and connect with the teachers. All Welcome.

Swimming: We will continue to swim each day the weather allows. Please continue to bring togs and a towel each day. It was great to see so many families enjoying the pool on Sunday. We will let you know if we are able to open it up again on another hot Sunday.

Student of the Week: Leo (Rm 12) is a friendly and polite student who has settled into the school year with ease. He has a strong work ethic and is eager to help others. Leo has formed great peer relationships, and is of great assistance to Kaiden, who often looks to him for support. He is an awesome and valuable member of Room 12. Tino pai tō mahi koe! Davi (Rm 5) is a kind, caring and thoughtful student of Room 5. He is hardworking, he listens carefully and displays a positive attitude towards all of his learning. Davi treats everyone with respect and is a fantastic role model. He enjoys helping out others when needed, he plays nicely with his friends and is always calm. We are lucky to have as part of our class as he is a valued member of Room 5.
