Newsletter: Week 6, Term 2
Kia ora Whanau. It's been a busy few weeks at school. We have also seen a rise in illness over the last two weeks. There seems to be a lot of winter ills about. We appreciate you keeping your tamariki at home and letting us know when they are unwell. At this stage, we have only a small number of active Covid cases, but it is still in our community.
Thank you Mr Miller: We are very grateful to Mr Ali Miller for donating his yummy Yams to school to sell as a fundraiser. Thanks also to our PAL's sales team, we made close to $800! Our PALs are thinking about exciting ways we could use the money to enhance our school. Mr Miller also donated an Enormous Pumpkin. We have given him a thank you goodie bag but we could not convince him to have a photo. We thank him very much for his support and kindness.
The Enormous Pumpkin: Mr Miller ran a competition to see if anyone could guess the weight of the Enormous Pumpkin. We took the pumpkin to assembly so everyone could see it. We had a range of guess all the way up to 100Kg! The actual weight of the pumpkin was 10.9Kg and we had three students that guessed 11Kg. Mr Miller decided we should therefore have three winners! Congratulations to Tama (Rm 3), Alex (Rm 8) and Lexi (Rm 17). Mr Miller kindly gave all three children a prize from Netherby Meats.
Nanogirl Science Show: We all learned something new at this very interactive show. It was a great opportunity to see some very cool science experiments that the children were able to join in with.
Lost Property: We continue to have a large number of unnamed uniform items in our lost property. We return named items to students and the rest is available for collection in the cloak bay between Room 6 and 7. Once a term, we put everything on the veranda for classes to check for any lost items. Items that remain unclaimed will be washed and taken to the Red Cross shop.
EPro8: Our Year 5/6 students enjoyed having additional EPro8 kits at school to experiment with. Congratulations to Lucas (Rm 11), Jack (Rm 8), Alex (Rm 8) and Cohen (Rm 10) who will go to compete against other Year 5/6 students in the EPro8 competition on 7th July.
