Newsletter Week 6, Term 4

Claudine Campbell —

Kia ora Whanau. This newsletter is going out a little early, due to our Teacher Only day Thursday and Canterbury Anniversary Day on Friday. It was great to see many of you at learning conferences this week. If you were unable to make it in and would still like a time to meet with your child's teacher, please give the office a call and we can arrange a time that suits. Enjoy the long weekend.

Classes for 2024: We are currently working on class placements for 2024.  Below is a list of which teachers are in each class.  Mrs Jen Williams as Junior DP will lead Kakano and Tupu roopu and will provide classroom release in those classrooms.  Mrs Lois Eaton as Senior DP will lead Mahuri and Rakau roopu and provide classroom release in those classrooms. Mrs Robyn Dunne and Miss Casey McIntosh will have regular release teaching in our school also.

Zone Athletics: Congratulations to the following children who will compete at the Canterbury Zone Athletics in Christchurch on 29 November: Our Year 5 Boys Relay Team (Taupiri, Jacob, Darcy, Fletcher E), Jacob: Yr 5 Boys High Jump and Short Sprint, Taupiri: Yr 5 Boys Long Jump and Long Sprint, Summer: Yr 5 Girls Sprints. We are very proud of you and wish you all the best for a fun day of Athletics.

Book Week: We had a really fun Book Week and the children enjoyed some additional activities.  It was lots of fun seeing some very creative book characters at Friday's Dress up day.

Keeping Ourselves Safe: Constable Sean Patterson has supported teachers in the delivery of our Keeping Ourselves Safe (KOS) programme. This important learning helps children to be aware of all the ways they can keep themselves safe and happy, including at school, at home, at other peoples places, in public and online.

Student of the Week: Last week, we celebrated Hudson of Rm 1. Everyone in Room 1 loves Hudson! This is because he is kind to everyone, all of the time. If someone is sad he will put his arm around them and say “you ok?’’ He cares about his friends and knows how to make them feel better. Hudson has grown up so much and is now a big school boy who knows what to do at school. He is learning to do so many new things and we are so lucky to have such a caring and hardworking boy in our class. You are amazing Hudson!
