Newsletter Week 6, Term 2
Talofa lava Hampstead School 'Aiga. We have enjoyed learning more about the Samoan language and culture during Samoan Language Week.
Pasifika Fono: Thanks to Naneh & Malu for organising this event last night. It was great to see our Pasifika group perform and talk and share a meal together. We look forward to our next fono later in the year.
National Young Leaders Day: We were fortunate to be able to take a group of seniors along to this amazing day at the Christchurch Town Hall yesterday. Taite, Charlie J, Kapiolani, Tupou, Natalie, Taupiri, Tu’i’ & Kaylee heard from some inspiring young leaders and were absolutely buzzing from the experience. Thanks to Mrs Eaton and Miss Martin for taking the children along and supporting the leadership opportunities for our tamariki.
EPro8 Competition: Today we have two teams of four competing against other Year 5/6 teams from around Mid Canterbury. EPro8 is a fun challenge where children use their problem-solving and communication skills to follow a design brief using the EPro8 kits to build a variety of things. Our Hampstead Stars were Jakob, Elvis, Anna & Jackson. The Happy Hampstead team members were Nadine, Chini, Lavinia & Kaylee. Congratulations to the Hampstead Stars for placing third equal. They will go on to compete in the semi finals next term.
Cross Country: What a wonderful day we had for our school Cross Country on Thursday last week. A huge thanks to our school community for coming out and supporting the children to do their best. Congratulations to the following students who have qualified for the Mid Canterbury County Cross Country that will take place on 7 June at the Ashburton A&P Showgrounds. William N, Kaiden, Charlie J, Fletcher E, Jacob F, George N, Domingo & Ronaldo. Well done to you all.
PTA Fundraiser: Thank you for the many orders we have in for Naked Baker pies. A reminder that orders need to be in to the office by Wednesday 7 June.
Students of the Week: Last week we celebrated Sid of Rm 17. Sid is a great student to have in Room 17. His personality and kindness really shines in our class. He is curious and shares amazing homework with the class. He thinks about the world around him and this makes for amazing conversations that boost our learning. This week we acknowledged Miah of Rm 5. Miah is a kind and friendly student. She always makes positive choices and takes a lot of pride in everything she does. Miah is a fantastic role model and a wonderful student to have in Room 5.
