Newsletter Week 4, Term 4

Claudine Campbell —

Kia Ora Whanau. With Staff Only Day Thursday (tomorrow) and Canterbury Show Day on Friday, we are sending this newsletter out early. Enjoy the long weekend and hopefully some sunshine.

County Athletics:  We had 48 students compete at the Ashburton Domain on Friday 4 November.  We were super proud of how well they represented our school by being good sports, trying their best and being courteous to others.  Everybody should be really proud of themselves. We have extra special mentions of students that also gained placings.   Our Year 5 Boys Relay Team (William N, Teapeu, Lucas & Iulio) came 3rd.  Our Year 5 Girls Relay Team (Penina, Tahmal, Chini & Grace) came 1st.  Our Year 6 Boys Relay Team(Jack, Silao, Cohen & Aiden) came 3rd.  Our Year 6 Girls Relay Team (Caroline, Libby, Lily & Maisey-Jade) came 2nd.  Zac Lawson placed 3rd in Year 3 Boys Short Sprint.  Jacob Faalavaau placed 1st and Taupiri Unahi placed 2nd in Year 4 Boys Short Sprint.  Jack Trott placed 3rd in Year 6 Boys Short Sprint.  Penina Tuilaepa placed 2nd in Year 5 Girls Short Sprint.  Jacob Faalavaau placed 1st in Year 4 Boys Long Sprint.  Aiden Kamoe placed 3rd in Year 6 Boys Discus and 2nd in Year 6 Boys Shotput.  Ula Tomokino placed 3rd in Year 5 Girls Shotput. Fereniteutele Fuluasou placed 1st in Year 6 Girls Shotput. Caroline Fepuleai placed 3rd in Year 6 Girls Shotput.  Jacob Faalavaau placed 3rd in Year 4 Boys High Jump.  Jack Trott placed 2nd in Year 6 Boys High Jump.  Congratulations to you all!

Jump Jam Nationals Competition: Our two teams had a very early start on Saturday to head off to Christchurch to compete in the Nationals Competition.  Our Senior Team (Hampstead Hampsters) competed in the Strictly Jump Jam category and our Junior team (Hampstead Dynamite) competed in the Year 4 Advanced category.  The competition level was very high and we were very proud of how well they did.  Although we did not receive a placing this time, we are so proud of how much hard work, passion, pride and commitment went into entering this event.  Thanks to Miss Martin, Miss B and Miss Trotman for coaching these teams.  A lot of work goes in behind the scenes.

Student of the Week: Eleni of Room 12 is a kind, caring, thoughtful and hardworking member of ruma tekau ma rua. She speaks in a kind and gentle way to others and is always ready to help out others and help around the classroom with any jobs. Eleni always tries her very best in all areas of her learning and likes to take care with the presentation of her work. Eleni is polite and respectful towards her peers. She has a beautiful smile too! Room 12 is very lucky to have her as a member of the class.

Year 6 Transition to Intermediate: Mr Gray visited today with former Hampstead students Francis, Molly and Talia.  Students learned about life at Intermediate and had a chance to ask questions.  The 6's will visit Intermediate on Friday 25 November.

Board of Trustees: Our next Board of Trustees is on Wednesday 23 November at 6pm in the supper room at Armadillos.
