Newsletter Week 8, Term 4

Claudine Campbell —

Wow, it is hard to believe we are almost at the end of the year! This will be our last newsletter this year. Today student reports will come home and will include details for next years class including a stationery list. These are also available on our website. We look forward to seeing many of you at our Assembly and Picnic on Wednesday (14th December). Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing summer break.

Year 6 Camp: Last week our Year 6 students went to Woodend for their three day camp, which was postponed from February.  This is a fantastic opportunity for your Year 6 students to come together and try a range of activities and challenges.  It is always a highlight and a special memory of their time at Hampstead School.  Huge Thanks to the adult helpers that came along to support this.  We couldn't do it without your help!

Year 6 Leavers Party: On Tuesday our lovely PTA put on a a barbecue for our Year 6 Students.  Then they had a fun pool party at EA Networks. We wish our Year 6's all the very best for Intermediate and beyond.  It is always sad to see them go.  I'm sure it will be a very emotional assembly on Wednesday.

Assembly & Picnic on the last day: Thank you for returning the yellow slips so that Kai for Kids know how many to cater for.   Our assembly will begin at 11am followed by a shared Picnic meal, kindly provided by Kai for Kids for everyone.  We are hoping for lovely weather to allow our assembly outside.  If the weather does not allow an outside assembly, we will hold this in the hall and prioritise space for Year 6 families as we can't fit everyone in our hall.  Children are free to go home from 1.30 after the picnic.  If your child is staying until 3pm, please let your child's teacher know on Dojo so we can ensure they return to class after the picnic.

Student of the Week: On Friday, we acknowledged Ili of Rm 6. Ili is an absolute delight to have in Room 6! He is kind, caring and always willing to help others and around the classroom. He is creative, takes pride in his work, and always tries his best! He is a positive role model that we are lucky to have in Room 6!  Well done Ili, we are pleased and proud to you at Hampstead School.

Music Lessons: We are very fortunate to receive funding from Advance Ashburton for music lessons with Mrs Nicola Walker.  On Tuesday night, our choir along with soloists Oryannah and Josephine will perform for he Advance Ashburton board.  We thank them for their ongoing support.

Scooters: We have a lot of children that bring scooters to school and many that look the same.  Please ensure scooters are clearly named so we can ensure they are returned to the right person.

Meetings: Our next Board of Trustees meeting is on Wednesday 16 February at 6pm in the Staffroom.  Our PTA would love some new members.  Meeting dates to be confirmed in the new year.

Thank you to Altrusa International Club Ashburton for making making and donating these beautiful swimming bags, complete with towel.  They are very much appreciated.
