Newsletter Week 4, Term 4
Kia ora whanau. It's Gumboot Friday! We have lots of fun outfits today with our trusty gumboots. We are so pleased to be supporting our Board Members Dayle and Regan who have grown their beautiful mullets to fundraise over $11000 for Gumboot Friday. We are very proud to have helped exceed this target by raising $433.90. Mental health affects so many people including children. Money raised helps to get additional services to those in need. Thanks everyone for your support.

Farm Trips: As part of our Paddock to Plate unit, our Year 0-3 classes have been out and about visiting some local farms. We are very grateful to these local businesses for sharing their time and expertise with us.
Talleys also visited the Y0-3s at Hampstead. They talked about all the processes that happen at Talleys. They showed us small clips that they talked through with classes. We had some great questions for our visitors. Was great to hear from locals about what is happening so close to school. Pretty amazing when you hold up a hot chip to remember all the processes it goes through from the paddock to plate.
We have also been talking about all the items we buy from the supermarket that have been grown or made at farms like fruits, vegetables and meats. Than those that have farm products in them like pizza, biscuits, bread, pasta.
We made our own bread. Measuring the ingredients and popping it all in the bread maker for five hours to bake. Then we used cream to make butter. A tasty and delicious snack.
Learning Conferences: Our student reports will come home on Friday 8 December. We invite you to make a time to meet with your class teachers on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 November between 3.15-6pm. Bookings are now open through School Interviews: https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code/n2zhh The office can book a time for you or arrange an alternative date if these do not suit.
Photography Club: If you managed to get to the Ashburton A&P Show, you might have seen the outstanding display of photo's that our Photography Club entered. Mrs Eaton is a very talented photographer and she very kindly shares her time and talents with this eager group of budding photographers. If you didn't get to see the display, there are photos attached below. Room 7 also entered some of their digital art this year and these are on display in out hall foyer and they look stunning!
Students of the Week: Last week, we celebrated Jacob of Rm 10. Jacob is a bright and bubbly student with an infectious smile. He is the most amazing dancer who represented us with pride at Dance Champs and is a wonderful, energetic Jump Jam leader. In class, he is always eager to learn more and will try his hardest to push himself. We can't wait for you to be an amazing year 6 role model for our school next year with your high-spirited and caring personality. This week we acknowledged Jaxson of Rm 14. Jaxson is a helpful and conscientious student. He always puts 100% into his mahi and goes above and beyond by being the first to offer to help.
