Newsletter Week 2, Term 1, 2025
Kia ora whanau. We have had a fun and enjoyable first two weeks back at school and the children have loved getting in the pool on these hot days. A reminder that there is no school on Thursday 6 or Friday 7 February. Welcome to all new families to Hampstead School.
Connect Night: We invite all Hampstead School whanau to come along from 5pm on Tuesday 11 February and meet your child's teacher and look around the classrooms. There will be a free sausage sizzle from 5pm. A brief Camp meeting for Yr 6 parents will be held in Rm 15 at 5.45pm.We hope to open up the pool from 6-7pm (if the weather is warm enough). Children MUST have an adult to supervise if they are swimming. We look forward to seeing you there.
Keeping in Touch: We continue to use HERO as our main form of communication, so please ensure you have signed up through the app or website. We have instructions on our website to help you get set up. https://hampsteadschool.co.nz/a/VCzdY7c Attached here is our email list if you need to get in touch with your child's teacher throughout the day: https://hampsteadschool.co.nz/a/11GgShc
Welcome to our new families and staff: We warmly welcome our new families to Hampstead School. We also have some new faces on staff. Mrs Alana Turnbull has taken over from Mrs Davies as SENCO. We welcome teachers Miss Brooke Halliday to Rm 2 and Miss Jess Saunders to Rm 10. Mrs Sarah Grieve has taken over from Mrs Williams as Deputy Principal in the Junior area.
Swimming: Our classes will have swimming lessons each day for the next 4-6 weeks (weather dependent). Please ensure children have named togs and a towel each day, even if the weather looks slightly iffy in the morning as often it comes out hot later in the day.
Team Assemblies: On Fridays at 12noon in even weeks, we hold team assemblies. Whanau are welcome to attend these. These special assemblies acknowledge students that have been role modelling our school values as well as sharing current learning. Rm 1,2,3,5,7,8,9 hold theirs in the library and Rm 10,11,12,13,14,15 hold theirs in the Hall. The dates for these are 21 Feb, 7 & 21 March, 4 April.
Lost Property: We are very fortunate to have Mrs Kilgour return named lost property to students when they are found. Any other items can be found on the lost property trolley in the cloakbay between Rm 6&7. Naming school clothing including hats and togs makes returning items a lot easier.
