Newsletter Week 4, Term 3
We have had a very busy but super fun couple of weeks at school. We have been fortunate to have so many opportunities for our tamariki to shine! Thank you to everyone that came along to our Learning Conferences and Celebration of Learning evening. This really helps support your child's learning as well supporting quality connections with our school. If you were unable to make these events, you are always welcome to pop in and chat with our teachers any time.
Hakatere Cultural Festival: Our senior Kapa Haka and Pasifika group performed at the Hakatere Cultural Festival this morning and they were outstanding! They performed along with many other Mid Canterbury Schools cultural groups. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our cultures and see some other groups perform. Huge thanks to our amazing leaders Sonia and Malu for sharing their super talents with the kids and working so hard to get them to this stage.
LDA Dance Champs: We had a junior and a senior team competing this year. They were so amazing and gave it their all! Thanks to Mrs Czerski and Miss Sherriff for working so hard with the teams. They were amazing and both even managed to come in 2nd Place! Well done everyone
Year 5/6 Swim Week: Our Year 5 and 6 children have made great progress with their aquatic skills every day this week. They will have another week of lessons at EA Networks Pool in Week 9.
Thank you from Ronald McDonald House: Our school raised a massive $580 (as well as a ton of food!) for Ronald McDonald House through our Dress up Day, Disco and from the second hand uniform sale that Mrs Karen Kilgour ran. Thanks Karen for this. Ronald McDonald House were so grateful. Also thank you to Brooke Webster for suggesting this fundraiser opportunity.
Hampstead Stars at EPro8: Anna, Jakob, Elvis and Jackson made it into the EPro8 semi finals on Thursday 3 August. The challenges were all based around arcade games. They worked together so well as a team on the problem solving challenges. We have EPro8 kits at school and the children really benefit from these types of activitiies that enhance their thinking, problem solving and communication skills.
New Building: You will have seen our new Special Programmes is up and running. There are still a few minor details to finish. You may have noticed the beautiful Butterfly seat that was kindly crafted and donated by our Board Chair Mr Dayle Prichard in memory of Lily Gee. Once everything is finished and the grass is repaired, we will have an official opening.
Do you know anyone turning 5? To help with our planning and staffing, we'd love to know if any children living within our enrolment zone are turning 5 in the next year. If they haven't already pre-enrolled, please encourage them to get in touch. Here is a link to our enrolment zone: https://www.educationcounts.govt.nz/find-school/school/profile?school=3367
Students of the Week: Last week we celebrated Chini of Rm 10. Chini is a polite and kind student. She is hardworking and always puts in so much effort and pride, producing pieces of work that are to a very high standard. She enjoys stretching her understanding and also enjoys sharing her knowledge by helping and encouraging others. Chini is a helpful students in Room 10, always going above and beyond by doing her own and others class duties. We are very lucky to have such a great role model in Room 10 and at Hampstead School. This week we acknowledged LJ of Rm 6. LJ shows courtesy and kindness to his classmates. He always comes to class with a big smile and a ready to learn attitude. You are a great role model LJ!
