Team Visits to Ferrymead

Joanna Woods - April 5, 2023

In Term 2 each team will spend a day at Ferrymead, stepping back in time and experiencing what life was like for our early Canterbury European immigrants.

This experience is part of our Social Sciences unit on early Canterbury history. Towards the end of the term we will be having a visit at school from the Canterbury Museum educators which will tie in with this learning.

Classes will be travelling to Ferrymead by bus. We need some parents to help with supervision at Ferrymead. All parents helping will be required to travel on the bus with us. This trip is not suitable for preschoolers.

The cost of the Ferrymead trip and museum visit is being generously subsidised by the PTA ($10 per child) The cost to parents per child will be $13. This covers the cost of the bus as well as the education programme provided. Please complete the permission slip linked here by Friday 5th May.

Payments are to be made online or at the school office.

As teams need to be at Ferrymead by 9.30, we will be leaving promptly at 9am, therefore, the children and parent helpers will need to be at school by 8.45 to take the roll and for a safety briefing. We will return to school by 3pm. This is a whole day trip, children will need a morning tea, lunch, (No hot food) a water bottle and a warm layer as several activities happen outside.
