Rehua Marae
Visit to Rehua Marae
Even though it was a cold day Harewood School were given a warm welcome at Rehua Marae.
On Tuesday 4 April the whole school visited Rehua Marae in two groups. The children were paired up with their buddy class which helped promote tukana teina (the older supporting the younger). We were welcomed on to the marae with a powhiri and enjoyed some kai including some rawena bread made by Yo Gulliver. The children participated in activities that included sketching carvings, learning rakau (stick) games, and dramatizing a legend.
Thank you to all the parents for accompanying us on this trip and helping to make this a great experience.
