Kahikatea Zones
On Wednesday the 29th May we had 13 tamariki head to Zones held at Jelly Park to run 2km. We are so proud of all of them! They cheered everyone on and tried their very best.

Aaron, Nixon and I went into a car to zones. I was nervous like I have never been before. I took some deep breaths and moved on. We got there and we ran to the Harewood School booth and sat down. We had so much time to wait until the year five boys race. Connor and I started watching the races. It went Year 8 Girls, Year 8 Boys, Year 7 Girls, Year 7 Boys. Then it was Alice's turn in Year 6 girls. She came third! Then it was the Year 6 Boys turn and Blake, Ben and Reilly raced. They did well but no one qualified for Canterburys. Then it was the Year 5 girls turn. McKenna came first, Zara came eighth and Arabella came fifteenth. Then it was my turn and my heart was beating lightning fast. I came twelfth, Cooper came tenth , Aaron came nineteenth, Nixon came thirty-eighth,Connor came thirty-nineth and Patrick came twenty-second. My overall rating of the event was 9/10. it was a super fun experience that test you for how good you are. I would like to do it again.

At zones, we had to wait for a very long time before our race. When we got there, it was spitting. After we had warmed up for our race, we had to line up. When we were ready a person had two pieces of wood and said, ' Take your marks' , then clapped the two pieces of wood together. Then we ran two laps. The people who came 1st-12th got to line up to record their name. I came 15th.
