Oderings Garden Centre partners with our Eco-green group.

Joanna Woods —

This term we have been fortunate to have been accepted by Oderings to be part of their school garden mentoring programme.

This term we have had two visits from Oderings staff as well as a mentor from the Horticultural Society. They have provided our Eco-green with plants and gardening advice. The last visit involved learning more about the importance of pollination, and the job our bees will do, once they emerge from their cocoons.

After  expanding our knowledge, our mentors helped us plant out more veggies. They also provided some great growing frames for our climbing plants.

This week, we have our last visit for the year. We will be learning about the importance of mulching our garden over the hot summer and then planting some blueberries and strawberries. We are very excited about these!

The support being provided is amazing and we are very grateful to Oderings for supporting us in this way, and to Aleisha Byrne for following through when the opportunity was presented. Thanks to her hard work with the Eco-green students, our gardens have never looked better.

Families are welcome to harvest veggies over the summer holidays, we don't want them to go to waste. Next year we plan to sell excess produce to help fund the development of our gardens at school.
