Kia ora e te Whānau
We are now in Week 8 of our first term of the year, and as you might expect, all classes have a widely understood team culture. The classes have an agreed way of using their learning space, and shared expectations of how they want to be treated by their peers. This teamwork is palpable upon being in the classrooms, and our visiting relievers comment positively on this. It's often that kaiako | teachers will support their tamariki to create a class treaty to capture what the class values.
By now, we also have deep learning occurring across the concepts of our Term 1 curriculum areas. I am seeing children be curious and increasingly enthralled in their learning that it's been difficult to get their attention when I visit a classroom! I also have children asking teachers to share their learning with me. Pride beams from them, their teachers and I.
We love to see our children shine brightly. Two of our tamariki, Zara and Mckenna achieved the opportunity beyond our north-west zone to make it to the Primary Sports Canterbury Swim competition today. Way to go Harewood for being represented in this comp!
I look forward to seeing you at the Colour Run if your schedule allows it. Along with other staff, I have volunteered myself to be plastered in all sorts of colours... gulp! You, your wider whānau members and our amazing PTA have made many things possible through this fundraiser.
