Harewood School — May 9, 2024

Uniform is a requirement at Harewood School.

We have recently introduced a new logo and uniform list.

At Harewood School our uniform is worn proudly and with respect, one of our school values. Our approved uniform provides choice and options, while helping provide consistency across our school. The full correct uniform is to be worn by all students.

Our uniform is available from Mainland Uniforms in Wairakei Road, and Susan Ross in Rutland Street.

Summer

Tops

Bottoms

Royal blue wide brimmed or bucket hat (compulsory Term 1 and 4)

Winter

Bottoms

Optional:

We understand that in the winter months children need extra layers, however, these can be worn under the school garments (note: out of sight under their clothing). Long sleeve thermals and long skins need to be paired with the long sleeved top or skivvy.

Jackets etc can be worn to and from school and outside at playtimes.

Year 5 & 6 students may wear navy sports shorts for sport. These are available at Mainland Uniforms and Susan Ross.

All items must be named.

Footwear: As all children participate in daily physical activity, comfortable and appropriate footwear is required. (Crocs and roller shoes are not acceptable footwear)

Hair: For safety and health reasons long hair and hair falling over face must be tied up or clipped back. Hair accessories should be in keeping with our uniform colours (navy, royal blue, white, gingham in summer and tartan in winter). Colourful bows, large bows or headbands are not acceptable.

Jewellery and adornments: Your child should not wear jewellery to school, with the exception of stud earrings or watches. This is due to the danger of jewellery getting caught during physical activity or play.

We understand that for some whānau wearing a cultural item is important. If this is the case, we ask that parents wishing their child to wear a cultural item to please email the principal so this can be noted in our student management system.

Nail polish on fingers should not be worn.

If there are any cultural or other reasons why aspects of our uniform are not appropriate for your child to wear, we ask that you meet with the principal to discuss possible options.
