Athletics Day

Harewood School —

Everyone is training hard for athletics day.

Next Monday 2 November is our annual athletics day.

Attached is a map of the events and a timetable.

Student Check

  • Hair needs to be tied up.

  • Sunblock will be available for top ups.

  • Named drink bottles will be stored in age group bins on field.

  • ALL students to wear a sunhat and protective clothing.

  • School uniform is to be worn – navy blue shorts for the seniors.

  • Junior girls who only have a dress can wear school top and some plain shorts

  • Parents please check that students have medication at school (especially hay fever/asthma).


General Information

  • This is a great opportunity to support and encourage all students in their effort and achievement

  • PTA will be having a bake sale and is for adults only.

  • Photos – please respect other children’s/families’ privacy and do not post photos on social media which have other children in them. This is our school policy.

  • NO DOGS or pets to come into the school grounds during the day, thank you.

  • We appreciate parents modelling sunsafe behaviour and wearing a hat.

  • Please be aware that with construction on site there will be workers and equipment on site so please closely supervise your pre-schoolers.


Competition Information

  • Parents and family need to give competitors and staff room to run their activities.

  • Avoid crossing the field anywhere near the throwing events.

  • Keep the finish line area clear to let staff do their job.

  • Each age group will carry around a junior chair with their age group name on it. Look for it.

  • Children will have results cards pinned on their back before morning tea.

  • Bare feet option only for high jump into sawdust and long jump. No other jumping or running without shoes.

  • Can we please have quiet from children and adults as competitor/s begin their event.

  • Preschoolers are not to sit with competitors or play with equipment. They must stay with parents for safety.

  • Children remain at school until the 3pm bell. The PTA will be selling juicies on the grass out the front after school.

Timetable

9:15am Morning tea

9:35am Bell – line up in ages on field ready

9:40am Welcome, walking off to first event

9:45am Rotation around 8 stations 27 minutes per station

11:33am - 12:15pm Long distance races

12:15pm – 12:50pm LUNCH – Children and parents must eat in the shade.

12:50pm Return to Assembly Area before moving off to complete stations.

12.55pm Next rotation (5th) starts

2:43pm Return to assembly area.

2:48pm Clean up. Announcements. (Classroom groups walk in lines back to classroom)

2:53pm Children back to the classroom, pack up rooms and hand in their points card)

3.00pm Parents collect children to go home
