Kapa haka Whānau Night

Chrissy Kereama —

Kapa haka recently performed to whānau and had the opportunity to share the way ahead for this outstanding group of students.

Jade, Quillan and Kase outlined what the group has achieved this year and what lies ahead for 2017. This includes, mihi whakatau (welcoming visitors), school performances, Tūhono showcase, Tūhono competition, a Burnside cluster performance and Kids in Town programme.

The group performed a variety of waiata and haka to an appreciative audience. After Mrs Andrea Knight and Matua Sonny addressed the group, the whānau gathered were asked for their feedback. Questions related to student learning, school communication, and how we can strengthen our partnerships with whānau.

Another highlight of this event was the the opportunity for staff, students and whānau to mix and mingle and enjoy the delicious kai. A wonderful evening was had by all.
