Canterbury Schools' Duathlon - 2018

Tim Evers —

Event a huge success, with a year level victory and five top 20 finishes

With just over 1150 athletes, the stage was set for a huge event at the 2018 Canterbury Schools Duathlon. The hot and dry conditions were certainly a welcomed improvement from the rain and strong winds that had battered Ruapuna Park over the past 2-3 years. It was a big effort for our families/caregivers to transport and attend this event, and the Heaton team really appreciated the support and positive atmosphere.

We are extremely proud of all of our participants, who gave it their absolute all to complete a very challenging course. We would like to congratulate Will H (Room 17) who emerged victorious in the Year 7 Boys Event. Will finished the race in a fantastic time of 31 minutes, 27 seconds. Heaton also had four other athletes (Hamish G -Rm 10, Kate C – Room 15, Phonse C – Room 2 & Ruby C – Room 21) who finished in the top 20 of their respective races. This was a huge achievement considering the number of participants.
