Heaton Students Attend Write On Masterclasses
Heaton writers from both Year 7 and Year 8 have been attending these classes offered by the Write On School for Young Writers. Here are two short pieces from Term 4 classes. One was written at a masterclass on artefacts. The other is from a horror genre masterclass.
My Artefact by Felix
To me, I think my first ever guitar (it happened to be blue) is an artefact. Not that it’s old, but because it means a lot to me. The reason it means so much to me is because it started my interest in music. If you know me well enough, you’ll know I love playing my guitar and listening to music. If you know me even better, you’ll know I’m in a rock band, too. All of this is because of my little, blue guitar. Now I own three guitars. An electric guitar, an acoustic guitar and, of course, my little blue guitar.
Blood Red Blue by Grace
My breath was lost as I slowly faded down below the surface. The shimmering sun shone through the water, revealing my pain and the fear I was immersed in.
The pain of betrayal, the feeling of a knife sliding through my chest as the front of the boat corner slowly slid through my flesh. The water turned red and my vision went blurry. I watched my last air bubbles slowly glide to the surface.
Oh, how I’ll miss them.
