The Heaton Board are very grateful to Shaun Edwards-Brown and thank him for his work for the school over the last four years. Shaun stood down from both the Chair position and the Board at the July meeting.

This means we now have vacancy on the Board. The best practice guidelines http://www.trustee-election.co.nz/board-resources/a-guide-to-board-structure state that “For this process to be done properly, the community needs to be notified that the board intends to fill a casual vacancy by selection and that there are 28 days to 10 percent or more of eligible voters to request a by-election. Once the 28 days are up, without the 10 percent threshold being reached, the board can select someone to fill the vacancy.”

So, if you would like a by-election, can you please let Sarah Helleur (helleurs@heaton.school.nz ) know. If we do not get a direction from the community that a by-election is required by the end of September, then we can simply appoint someone.
