Korowai Assembly

Chrissy Kereama —

Taua Daph was welcomed with a mihi whakatau by staff and students in yesterday's assembly to formally hand over the Heaton korowai.

She worked with staff and students last year to create two unique korowai (cloaks) for our school. This process involved preparing the feathers and harakeke (flax) which was then incorporated into the designs.

One depicts Mount Aoraki and the other acknowledges our connection to the water with a whale fluke. The korowai will be used by students and staff during special occasions and performances. Many thanks to the PTA who commissioned the making of the korowai and to Fiona Taylor for her creative input and guidance throughout this project.
