You will
see from reading this newsletter that activity days and camps has been a large
part of this term for students and teachers.
Year 7 and Year 8 house teams have been on activity days or gone to
Raincliff camp. For Year 7 students in particular, going on 3
activity days as a house team provides fantastic opportunities for students and
teachers to get to know each other, make new friends and develop a strong sense of
belonging and connection to their new school. Thank you very much to all class
teachers for their hard work, time and commitment that plays a huge part in
ensuring activity days and camps are very successful and positive experiences for everyone. Special thanks goes to our 6 house leaders
who have ultimate responsibility for over a hundred people for the three days.
All teachers return feeling very happy that the goals of going to camp have
been well and truly achieved. They are also extremely tired! Thank you also to our wonderful parents who,
as activity day helpers and camp helpers, supported our staff so willingly and
enthusiastically. Activity days and camps simply would not happen if we did not
have such dedicated parents who were willing to give up their time to support
us.
As usual there is an amazing amount of sport happening. Summer sport is just finishing and trials for winter sports teams have started. In the meantime our Heaton Year 7 and Year 8 swimming sports have also been held. It is great to see so many students trialling and wanting to participate.
Emailing is a very efficient way of conveying factual information. However, if there are concerns or queries that are more than just information giving, then phoning or face to face contact with the person you want to talk to is a more effective and respectful way to constructively discuss an issue and promotes positively moving forward. We request that contact from parents/whanua, is constructive and solution focused.
