Cantamath Competition

Kit Clarkson —

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you regarding the recent Cantamath competition held at the Christchurch Arena on Wednesday 23 August.

Our Heaton Cantamath squad exhibited exceptional talent and determination, making us incredibly proud as a school community.

Year 7 Success: Our Year 7 students kicked off the competition with remarkable enthusiasm and skill. Their hard work paid off, as they scored an impressive 95 points out of 100. Out of over 60 participating schools, they secured a commendable fourth-place finish. This achievement reflects not only their aptitude for mathematics but also their dedication to teamwork and collaboration.

Year 8 Achievement: The Year 8 team entered the competition with high expectations, aiming to surpass their outstanding second-place finish from the previous year. Through their unwavering determination and persistent effort, they faced the challenge head-on. Ultimately, they concluded the competition with an impressive score of 90 points and no passes. This accomplishment placed our Year 8 team in sixth overall. Only one school mananged to reach the coveted 100 points with no passes. The other schools above us chose to pass and in the end finished with 95 points.

We extend our congratulations to the entire team of 16 squad members. These students have been working hard with extra lunchtime practices throughout the year. Our team's competition on the day would not have been as successful without everyone being involved.

Congratulations to:
