Year 7 Coordinator Role, Susan Rogers
The Year 7 Coordinator’s role is to oversee the year level group to ensure the well-being of students and that programmes are in place for students to be successful and achieve to their highest possible level. This is achieved with the support of our dedicated teachers and House Leaders Jenny Halligan and Cara Moginot.
At the
beginning of the year, it is particularly important that our Year 7 students
feel a part of Heaton by developing positive relationships with their teachers
and peers, and getting involved in the life of the school. Many Year 7 students
have successfully begun this process and for those who are finding the
transition from their contributing school to Heaton difficult, it is my role to
make sure those students are supported.
Ensuring that Year 7 students’ needs are identified, particularly for extra support or extension, and programmes put in place, is another part of my role. Over the next few weeks testing will take place to provide additional information to help identify students’ learning needs. As a coordinator, I will be overseeing their progress and working with teachers to ensure students’ needs are being catered for.
Another aspect of my role is to coordinate Year 7 events. This term we have the Year 7 Activity Week, Wednesday 8 March – Friday 10 March, and the Year 7 Swimming Sports on Wednesday 15 March. We welcome your involvement in any of these events.
