It is with much sadness that we inform you that Vivienne Campbell, our amazing Future Problem Solving teacher, has passed away. Vivienne was one of those truly inspirational and gifted teachers who instantly connected with all young people and they loved her. Our love and thoughts are with Vivienne’s family at this very sad time.

You will be aware that we have many students who ride to school on scooters and often at a very fast pace. Falling off a scooter can cause a significant injury to a student. We therefore strongly recommend that students wear helmets when riding their scooters as they would if riding a bike. While we cannot enforce this, we think it is good safety practice.

Next Friday, 2 June we have the first of our two Year 8 Market days. We would love to see as many of you as possible and be prepared to be amazed at the very wide range of items students have created. Early Christmas shopping!

We are planning a hāngī for Year 7 students, Year 8 kapa haka students and students in the Te Reo Māori enrichment group. The cost is $10 a student for food which has been subsidised by the school. The hāngī is being held at this time to coordinate with the celebration of Matariki in June. This is not a compulsory activity but we do strongly encourage students to be involved and sample the food.

Well done to our wonderful students and teachers for their awesome contribution to the World Fair Trade Day at the ReStart Mall and their very enthusiastic participation in the Heaton Comic Book Day. We are a group of staff and students who love dressing up! Watch for a sea of pink this Friday.

The 'Heaton Community Feedback 2017' article was emailed to our parents/caregivers earlier this week.  Please complete  the community consultation survey by Friday, 2 June.   survey form. (https://goo.gl/forms/ZHBOdL1Uzs78ZJHL2
