Love Tennis - Waimairi Tennis Club Open Days. Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September 1 to 4 pm. Come along and check out your local tennis club, have a swing, see what you think. The whole family is welcome. 

 There are racquets and balls available so you can join in, or enjoy a short coaching session or perhaps pit your skills against the ball machine. There is a free sausage sizzle, a coffee cart on site, and vouchers from Hell Pizza to be given away.

CHRISTCHURCH AVON ATHLETICS CLUB – Junior Section.  We are a well organized Junior Athletics Club – Catering for children of all abilities in the 5-14yr age groups. Club nights are Wednesdays 5pm -6.45pm (5/6yrs finish by 6.30pm) – at Burnside High School. First Club night for the 2018/2019 season is Wednesday 17 October. Saturday Inter-Club Competition is available with top-quality coaching provided.

REGISTRATION DAY – FOR ALL NEW MEMBERS:  Monday 15 October, 5.00-6.30pm, Christchurch Avon Club Rooms – Burnside High School (access from Greers Rd beside tennis courts).  

FEES: $85 per child (with reductions for 2 or more children in the same family).  $55 for children in the Kiwisport Group – 5/6 yrs Fees are payable following registration by internet banking.  Note - Until payment has been received, the child’s registration is incomplete.

Our very popular Junior club fills up quickly – so it is essential that all new members attend registration night on Monday 15 October to secure a place. Numbers are permitting.

ELMWOOD TOUCH 2018
Registrations have opened for the 2018/19 touch rugby season! Touch is a great intro to team sport and a super fun way to develop teamwork and skills that will carry over to other sports. Saturday September 1st, 1.15 – 3.15pm, Merivale Lane Theatre, Rangi Ruru Girls’ School

Workshop A 1.15 – 2.15pm Sound production for string players

Workshop B 2.15 – 3.15pm Practical session on effective practice techniques for string players

Active participants and observers welcome. Participants please bring your instruments.

Admission: $10 per workshop, $15 for both workshops.

2. Stellar Strings 2 in Concert

Saturday September 1st, 4pm Merivale Lane Theatre, Rangi Ruru Girls’ School

Stephen Larsen’s students in Concert, featuring Rangi music scholars/violinists, and Rangi alumni who are currently studying with Stephen at the University of Auckland. The concert will include a performance of Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite.

Admission: $20 adults, $15 students aged 18 years and under

Introducing CarryBENA!!  We are CarryBENA, a young enterprise group consisting of five Year 13 Villa Maria girls. Our main focus is to spread awareness of plastic pollution in New Zealand.

We have designed a product that will help promote the reduction of the use of plastic. In order to reduce the devastating effects that it is having on our environment.

Our product consists of a large-scale carabiner equipped with reusable grocery bags. The purpose of this is to provide an easy handling and quick storage solution to shopping. As well as providing an alternative option to plastic bags. With 10% of all profit going to our chosen charity, Sustainable Coastlines. This charity has a similar vision as us and use their recourses to clean up our beautiful New Zealand beaches.
