It has been wonderful having some lovely sunny days after such a miserable Queen’s Birthday weekend. It certainly helps everyone’s mood when we can get outside and feel some warmth from the sun.

Well done to all students who competed in the Heaton cross country on Wednesday, 7th. Unfortunately, it had to be held at Elmwood Park due to the sodden condition of our main field. The sports students organised the event and did a great job with support from Tim Evers.

On Friday, 2 June a very successful Year 8 Market Day was held with some of the funds raised going to support World Vision. Year 8 students and teachers really excelled themselves with the production with such creative, useful and interesting items that they made. Among other things, I bought a dream catcher which is now hanging in my office! It was also wonderful to see such support from our community. I received a lot of positive feedback about the event. The Market Day was followed on Tuesday, 6 June with a Food Fest in which some students produced amazing food and drinks using Fair Trade items. Every stall sold out very quickly!

The Pink Shirt Day held on 26 May was indeed a very pink day! Students really got behind the important message of anti-bullying and developing a prosocial environment for everyone. Thank you to all our students, staff and Vicky Edwards-Brown for supporting this event.

The close off date for our Community Consultation is Monday, 12 June and the link to this is further through this newsletter. The feedback we are receiving will be very helpful in informing our decisions about the school as we move forward.
