Congratulations to our Heaton speech competitors Evie Rm18, Ayshanie Rm5, Isabella Rm6, Michael and Nic Rm15

Straight after the Term 3 holiday, this group of students were battling it out in the Rotary and Canterbury Intermediate Speech Competitions. Both competitions were tough but highly entertaining. When I look back on this time, I think about the incredible skill level of these students, their effort, talent and resilience. 

Ayshanie was the overall competition winner and the Year 7 division winner. Her speech on racism and the importance of challenging it was really powerful. Isabella came second in the Year 7 division entertaining us all on why cross country should be optional. She tells me she needs 4 minutes of Mr Evers time! Nic was the Year 8 division winner.  He conveyed his arguments about why conspiracy theories are ridiculous with very entertaining humour. Well done to this very talented group.
