Kia ora whānau

Walking around at lunchtime today, it was great to see our students and staff enjoying the spring weather. It was particularly good to see our main field being used after months of wet, soggy conditions.

After a shaky start weatherwise, the winter sport season had a great finish with many of our teams being well placed in their various competitions. About 300 students were involved in the Hagley competition which would not have been possible without the support of our awesome staff and parents.

Congratulations to our Year 7 Cantamath team who won the annual Year 7 competition and our Year 8 team who came second in the Year 8 competition. It was a very exciting night indeed with a very vocal Heaton support team! A big thank you to Rachel Bates for all her hard work and exceptional teaching of our students.

The third term invariably seems to be a time to remind our students about what it means to be an awesome Heaton student by doing things such as wearing their uniform with pride, being considerate when out in the community and ensuring everyone has an enjoyable and happy end of 2018. Our Year 8 students are talking about the various high schools they will be attending and how they have mixed feelings about moving on to the next stage of their education. The two years at Heaton goes very fast indeed!
