Term 1, Weeks 10 & 11

During the last two weeks of this term all Heaton students will have the opportunity to take part in a 60-90 minute first aid session,  delivered by St John. The programme will address;

• Health and Physical Education (Level 3 & 4).

Students will investigate and/or identify and use local community resources and explain how these contribute to a healthy community.

Students will learn to access and use information to make and action safe choices in a range of contexts.

• Identify what makes an emergency
  
• The difference between a minor and major emergency
  
• The steps to call the emergency services
  
• How to assess the safety of the scene
  
• Simple first aid for severe bleeding
  
• Ways to reduce the risk of being sunburnt and burns in general
