Wellbeing Group Opportunity

Real Talk is a 10-week programme for taiohi (youth) aged 12-20 years who need extra support around managing anxiety, depression, and/or stress related behaviours. It’s aimed at taiohi with mild to moderate needs. The 12-15 year old group meets on Mondays, 4–6pm. Note, these groups are closed groups so same taiohi for the 10-week period. Groups are free of cost.

Real Talk is designed to help taiohi:

  • develop self-esteem and self-confidence.

  • manage and reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), sensory modulation, and mindfulness tools.

  • maintain and develop positive relationships.

  • decrease feelings of isolation and loneliness.

  • strengthen resilience.

They have also added a Whānau Night to their agenda. Each term, whānau are invited to come to an information session where they share kai, hear about what the group does and teach their Taiohi so they can bring these learnings home. It is also an opportunity for family to learn about other services available for whānau and their young person.

Additional information and registration form can be found below, and on their website: https://www.real.org.nz/locations/christchurch/
