Are you looking for an activity for your child to get them off that x-box or i-pad?  Arawa Canoe Club has a junior coaching programme encouraging children from the age of 8 years to get active and off the couch in a friendly and supportive environment.  We are based at Kerrs Reach, Avonside and our U14 group have sessions running twice a week 4.30 - 5.30 Thursdays and 10am - 11am Saturdays.  We have a number of coaches, including some older athletes led by Dayle MacKenzie in teaching the basics from how to keep your boat upright, up to achieving gold medals at the National Sprint Championships.  Children are encouraged to not only develop their own kayak skills, but work as part of a team in K2 (two-person kayak) and K4 (four-person kayak) boats.

Our Tyros age group U13 won the top Tyros Trophy at NZCT National Canoe Sprint Championships in February 2018 and fuelled the club to also be awarded the Top Club of the Championships.

Cost: annual membership subscriptions of $90 for juniors and $200 for family membership - which gives full access to club equipment and coaching sessions.  To find out more please visit our website www.arawa.org.nz or Facebook page.
