One of our Year 8 students, Mehakpreet, has had three items published in the Write On Magazine and School Journal.

Recently, I have been informed of some amazing news. Two of my poems have been selected for publication in the Write on Magazine Issue 60!

Incredibly, one of my poems Maim Kithom Ham (Where I am From) has been also been chosen for the upcoming Level 4 June 2024 School Journal. Maim Kithom ham is about my identity and culture. It was inspired by George Ella Lyon’s poem, which has a similar format to mine. This poem has brought me pride and success because it has been published two times!

I was fortunate to be invited to the launch of the new Write On Magazine - Memories and Milestones. This was led by Heather McQuillan who is the director of Write On Magazine.

It was a drizzly and cold night, but I was filled with excitement. Nothing could stop me!

I joyfully walked into the TSB Room, which was decorated with the Write On logo. My parents were extremely happy for me and would not stop taking pictures of me standing next to the Write On sign. 

I had the opportunity to read both of my poems to a large audience. I heard my name being called and started walking towards the lectern. As soon as I opened my mouth, everything just happened by itself. It was definitely one of the proudest moments of my life.

What I have learned from this awesome experience is to never stop writing! I will keep up the great work and will definitely submit more writing to the next Write On Magazine. I am so looking forward to seeing my poem in the new School Journal, too!
