Office @ Heaton —

Kia ora whānau

Wow! It has been quite a term. Heaton students and staff have achieved outstanding success in a number of areas. The AIMS Games squad, led by Tim Evers, had an amazing week in Tauranga. Not only did they achieve incredible success in the various competitions they entered, but our students consistently demonstrated our Heaton values and pride in themselves and their school through their sportsmanship and support for each other. Students who were billeted by families from Aquinas College had a wonderful week with their new “families”.

The energy, passion and determination of our Year 8 kapa haka students ensured incredible success in the two kapa haka competitions that were held last week, resulting in them bringing back to Heaton 4 trophies. Congratulations to our students and a huge thank you to Chrissy Kereama, kapa haka tutors, staff and whānau who supported the group.

The final performance of Seussical Jr that was held last night was absolutely superb. The audience were buzzing about every aspect of the show. The exceedingly high quality of all the performances was due to the huge energy, commitment and talent of our students. However, none of this would have been possible without the hard work, dedication and skill of Janiene Hill, our performing arts teacher and the director of the show. Janiene was supported by the whole Heaton team, in particular Sarah Cumming as the producer. The beautiful photos in the PAC foyer were taken by Fiona Taylor.

We are vigilant in ensuring the safety of our students at all times. For this reason, visitors to the school, including parents, must report to the office when they enter the school. Visitors and parents are not to go directly to classrooms.

We are all looking forward to a relaxing and enjoyable break with our families and friends especially with the weather warming up and the longer evenings. I hope you all have a lovely holiday with your children.

Nga mihi
