Christmas is coming

Fiona Taylor —

How to show your gratitude and show you care.

Sadly Christmas is not a celebration to look forward to for everyone, and this year will be an extra challenge for many Kiwi families. The Art Room Elves are busy working on ways to help you show your gratitude and raise money for our chosen charities. We will be running a Christmas Costume Day on Friday 11th December. There will be sELFie competitions and the whole school Jingle Bell Rock jump jam at lunchtime. Please bring a gold coin donation on the day.

We will also be selling our gratitude cards in return for a gold coin and will be running a small jewellery stall before our costume day, so please bring a few coins with you to school.

In addition to this we will be collecting items for the City Mission Food Bank and the SPCA. There will be a collection box in the Hall foyer or bring to the art room. See suggestions below.

OUR CHARITIES

The Christchurch City Mission is hard at work all year, but this season they will be especially busy.

Donations of non-perishable items like canned food help us most because these can be stored and distributed throughout the year. We really appreciate donations of cans of baked beans, spaghetti, soup and fruit, plus cereal, toothpaste, soap, and sanitary items.

The SPCA works tirelessly to rescue, re-home, educate and campaign for animal welfare.

Items of pet food are especially welcome.

Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Services

Financial restraints have prevented the new unit opening in Christchurch Hospital. They do such valuable work.
