Casual Clothes for Ukraine

Heaton students raise more than $1000 for the Red Cross's Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.

by Sadhbh and Anna

At the end of Term 1, Sadhbh in Room 5 felt passionate about helping Ukraine’s people (as we all are) and she had an idea to raise money for the Red Cross’s Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal. She pitched the idea of a casual clothes day to Ms Green, who thought it was a great idea.

Mrs Knight also agreed with this plan and decided that Friday, 8th April would be the casual clothes day. Soon, posters were put up, and on that Friday students came to school proudly wearing blue, white, and yellow and brought a gold coin in support of Ukraine.

The fundraiser was a great success! We raised over $1000 for the Red Cross to provide aid to Ukraine. We all know how hard it is for the Ukrainians to get through this awful time and we all feel proud to be donating to such a great cause.

In conclusion, as a school, we raised an amazing amount for an amazing organization that will help the world be a better place.
