Office @ Heaton —

It has been along time since the Heaton board has been involved in the Newsletter so I like to start with a great big 'Hi!' from all of us.

It has been a busy start to the year and we would like to thank all of the staff at Heaton for all their great work with our students, both in and out of the classroom. We have spent the last few board meetings analysing results and statistics and they clearly show that not only do our students achieve extraordinarily well, but we also have staff that are always looking for ways to improve. Even more impressive is the stunning amount of extra opportunities that the staff provide students, from the array of sports to the most recent 'Market Day'. The board recognises that these are all offered to students not because they are required but because the staff at Heaton genuinely cares, so on behalf of us all 'Thank You'.

On behalf of the board I would also like to thank all of the members of our community that have completed our feedback survey.  The information collected from this will be a fundamental part of our plans as we move through the stages of the school's regeneration. We are committed to ensuring that all decisions are made with needs of the community and students in mind, rather than trends or patterns in other schools. If you haven't already shared your ideas we ask that you do so by Monday.

Next week the school will be hosting ERO, who are conducting a review of our school. As a board we are excited to present the work and workings of our school to ERO and are confident that they will share in our beliefs that; Heaton Normal Intermediate is a school that not only supports the effective teaching and learning of students but also provides them with an environment that is safe and supportive. To all the staff who have been and will continue to work hard during this visit a massive 'Thanks' for all of us.

Lastly please remember that we would like your feedback on our policies and procedures, which can be made through the 'Schooldocs' website. Your ideas ensure that we stay up to date with the needs of our community.

Regards

Shaun Edwards-Brown, Board Chair
