Year 7 Activity Week

Office @ Heaton —

In Week 6 the Year 7’s had Activity Week. We went to Quail Island, Orana Park and sailing.

On Wednesday, Otahuna House went to Quail Island. Quail Island is located near Diamond Harbour and is a historic place. We left school and bused to Lyttelton Harbour where we then went on a boat across to the island. From there we walked a lovely track with very picture-perfect views of Lyttelton. There were fascinating information signs throughout the walk. We stopped for lunch at Swimmers Beach and then some of us went for a swim in the sea. Even one of the parents braved the water! Finally we all took the boats back to Lyttelton and repeated the bus journey back to school where we all tiredly went home.

As part of the Year 7 Activity Week, Otahuna House went to Orana Park. We were all fascinated by the animals and we definitely enjoyed the trip. We saw the amazing giraffes and got to feed them as well! Another one of the favourites were the adorable meerkats. The rhino were also very interesting and beautiful. After lunch we took part in the Amazing Race. In teams of 3 or 4 we had to run around the park and find information about some of the animals. We then bused back to school, tired and happy.

Thank you to all of the parent and teacher help. We couldn’t have done it without you!
