Office @ Heaton —

Kia ora whānau

It is a busy time of year as we prepare to farewell our Year 8 students and welcome our Year 7 students for 2018. Thank you to families and students who attended our Information Evening and are coming along to the interviews that are being held over the next week. We have been very impressed with all Year 6 students as they have been completing our maths and writing tasks. We also appreciate the time and effort that Year 6 teachers put into providing us with useful and insightful information about their students. All of this information is used by me to place students into a class that is the best fit for them.

Well done to Year 8 students in particular who are making the most of their last 4 weeks at Heaton and setting a wonderful example for our Year 7 students. We have some exciting events coming up including the Inter-Intermediate Athletics Competition in Ashburton, the Leavers’ Dance, the Big Day Out for all students, the Musical Appreciation Evening and the Year 7 and Year 8 Prize Givings.

It has been another great year and we want everyone to have a very enjoyable and memorable last few weeks. We are proud of our school and our students so it is timely to remind them all of our expectations when they are at school and in our community. We show we understand and can apply our Heaton values by always being considerate and respectful towards others here at school and when in our community. Students must be careful when riding scooters and bikes on our busy streets. Students are asked to go straight home after school unless they are meeting a parent or have an organised after school arrangement. We ask that students do not go to McDonalds after school unless they have gone home first to change or are meeting a parent. School uniform is to be worn with pride until the last day. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Nga mihi
