Kōru Games 2023

Kate Henderson —

At the end of last term, Heaton had its first experience of the Kōru games in Selwyn. 80 students attended and competed across a variety of sporting disciplines over the three days with 3500 competitors in attendance.

What a great three days were had at Kōru Games at the end of last term. This was Heaton’s first time attending this event, and our eight teams performed incredibly well. Our athletes treated everyone with respect, competed with exemplary sportsmanship and showed growth and improvements over the three days. We hope that everyone who competed, walked away feeling proud of themselves and that some lifelong memories have been made.

We would like to extend our thanks to our fantastic coaches and staff who supported us over the three days, as well as running practices in the weeks leading up to the tournament, our volunteer officials from Christchurch Boys High and community sports groups who refereed countless games over the three days, and the organisers from the Selwyn Sports Trust for organising such a fabulous event.
