The Environment Club's pen recycling initiative has netted several kilos worth of pens that won't go to the landfill.

For three terms, Heaton classrooms have been gathering used pens, highlighters, felts and even glue sticks for recycling, reducing our rubbish footprint. They will be delivered to the Writing Instruments Recycling Programme, a joint venture between BIC and TerraCycle that will provide 100% recycling.

This programme will continue in Term 4 and in 2021, so send in your used up writing implements for recycling instead of throwing them in the rubbish. Every little bit of waste we can recycle helps the planet!
