Hauora Interviews

Te Tihi o Kahukura Heathcote Valley School —

Tuesday 01 February

Our Hauora Interviews are an opportunity for you and your child(ren) to meet with their classroom teachers to discuss your collective hopes for their learning and development in 2022 and to share your insights into how they learn and develop.

From Mason Durie’s Whaiora:

Hauora is a Māori philosophy of wellbeing and health. Mason Durie’s whare tapawha model compares hauora to the four walls of a whare, each representing a different dimension: the spiritual side, the physical side, thoughts and feelings and family. All four dimensions are necessary for strength and symmetry.

Some questions to consider and help prompt discussion when you and your child meet with their 2022 teachers are:

  • What do you see as your child’s strengths? (Personal and Academic)

  • What do you see as your child’s needs? (Personal and Academic)

  • What interests does your child have? What do they get excited about?

  • How do they learn best?

  • What aspirations do you have for your child this year?

  • What out of school commitments does your child have this year?

  • What else would you like us to know about your child?

It is also a great opportunity to bring your child’s stationery to school. You will also receive a cybersafety form and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) form for Year 5 - 8 children.
