Accepting that making mistakes is a part of life and learning was the focus of our recent PB4L learning.

Our goal was for tamariki to understand that mistakes are not only opportunities for learning, but also a time when our brains grow. If you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, and changing your world.

Two videos were used to help explore this concept, Mistakes for junior students, and Resilience animation for seniors. Tamariki were encouraged to discuss their own experiences and what they learn from their mistakes and to think about strategies or skills they could use to help themselves learn, then move on from a mistake, and not repeat it.

We hope that by taking part in this learning they will now know and understand that it is ok to make mistakes, as long as we learn from them.
