Language Club

Catherine Mundy —

This year we have a new club at Heaton, the language club. Each week a new language is taught by a student and it is absolutely free.

It takes place in the ESOL room and it starts 12:45 pm to 1:30 pm every Thursday.

This year we have already learned Korean, Spanish, Hindi, German and Punjabi. The next languages are Mandarin, Pidgin English, and Ilonggo/Tagalog.

It is important to learn languages because it will help you in life as in high school it is a compulsory subject for year nine. Each week students are given a booklet including some basic language and facts about the country we are learning about.

The student taking the lesson makes and shows us a PowerPoint about their culture. I hope to see you in the language club. If you have any questions, ask Jeonghu in Room 14.
