Book Fair coming to Heaton!

Jane Boniface —

Heaton's biennial Book Fair event will be held in the LRC from Monday June 10th to Friday 14th June, with a Book Fair evening on Wednesday 12th June, 6pm - 7.30pm. Save the date!

During Book Fair week the Heaton Learning Resource Centre (LRC) will be transformed into a pop-up bookshop. Students will be able to purchase books, stationery and posters during interval and lunchtimes.

Parents are also welcome to drop by the LRC during interval (10.15am - 10.35am) and lunchtimes (12.45pm - 1.30pm), or come to the Book Fair evening on Wednesday 12th June, 6pm - 7.30pm. (EFTPOS available). Children who come along with their parents on Wednesday evening will receive a complimentary milo with marshmallows and a cookie.

Every purchase at the Book Fair benefits the school by way of a generous commission from Scholastic. After our last Book Fair in 2017 the school received $2,200 worth of free books!

Encouraging our children to read for pleasure is such an important and wonderful thing to do.  Research shows there are a multitude of benefits of recreational reading, from improving educational outcomes to greater happiness and social success!

So, whether or not you buy your child a new book at the Book Fair, please keep encouraging them to borrow and read books from the LRC - or anywhere else they can lay their hands on them.

Thank you for your support. See you at the fair!
