Kia ora whānau

We have had a great start to the Hagley Sport Winter Inter-intermediate sport competition with two sunny Tuesday afternoons. Long may this last! Our students come back to school buzzing with excitement whether they have won or lost their games.

This Wednesday was a very pink day indeed. In the morning the staff enjoyed a shared breakfast to support Pink Ribbon Day, Breast Cancer Awareness. Thank you to Helen, Schulte for the initiative, Katy Smeele for all the organisation for the amazing breakfast and to all our staff who contributed and participated. We also had Pink Shirt Day which focuses on zero tolerance for any form of bullying. Our staff and students wore a vast array of pink items. Thank you to Jason Naidoo and our student Lily N, Room 15 for all the organisation for the day including the very colourful and energetic parade at lunchtime.

Teachers are busy working on posting information about your child’s achievement in reading, writing and maths, participation/contribution to school life and a general comment. This will be followed up with student/parent/teacher interviews on June 17 and June 20. We look forward to seeing you all at interviews. Please contact the office if you are having problems accessing the posts. A separate email will be sent to you about these learning posts and there will also be information on our website for you to refer too.

We have made some changes to the school uniform. Shortly, a Heaton jacket will be available to purchase. This is optional. It is green with the Heaton logo in yellow (photo below).  Also, next year the girls’ kilt is being changed to a polyviscose, lighter weight skirt. We will send a photo out when we have one available.  The Heaton kilt tartan pattern remains the same but the skirt will be cheaper to purchase and will not need to be dry cleaned. The original kilt or the new skirt can be worn for 2020 and 2021.

Ngā mihi
